Broken

Abby dislocated and broke her pinkie finger playing kick ball at school. She called home and calmly asked if I could pick her up. I didn't even notice the time (noon) and said no, she could walk home. She promptly added that her finger was looking funny and she thought it might be broken. She was so calm I didn't think a thing was wrong. After a look from the clinic doctor and then a specialist it was decided it was dislocated and had to be put right. Dr. Hammon told Abby there were 2 ways they could put it back in place. One was painful, but quick, the other would require 2 shots in the hand to numb it and she had to choose. She didn't want the shots so Dr. Hammon took her pinkie and twisted it inward then pulled it over to meet her palm by the thumb and held it there for 20 seconds. Abby didn't yell or scream. She teared up some and Dr. Hammon said she was the toughest girl he has seen. Grown men would be crying for their mamas if he did that to them. It was back in place and she wore a splint for 2 weeks for the chip in the bone to heal. She is as good as new!!
